John Banker

John Banker is a Managing Director and the Head of Investment Research at BMO Family Office, an integrated wealth management provider that serves ultra-affluent individuals, families and family offices across their tax, estate, investment, philanthropic, risk and family capital needs.

John joined the organization in 2005 and has more than 22 years of experience in the financial services industry. As the Head of Investment Research, John supervises the research of traditional, hedge fund and private markets investment managers, as well as investment strategy.  John oversees sourcing and researching investment managers, evaluating strategies for inclusion in client portfolios, and monitoring the managers with whom clients have investments.  John had previously served as Director of Traditional Markets Research at CTC | myCFO, where he oversaw the research and selection of long only equity and fixed income investment managers for our clients.     

Prior to joining BMO Family Office, John served as a Senior Analyst at an investment firm with more than $1 billion in assets under management in mutual funds, a hedge fund of funds and structured bonds. He also was Editor of a highly acclaimed investment report for individual investors.  Before that John worked on numerous investment publications, serving as both a writer and editor.

John received a BA in English Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MA in Journalism from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and an MS in Finance from Boston College in Massachusetts.

He lives with his wife and two children in Portland, Oregon, and enjoys running, basketball, reading and music.
